Course FAQs

What does LTC stand for?+

LTC stands for License to Carry, formerly known as a concealed handgun license in Texas.

Do I need my own handgun to take the course?+

No, but bringing the handgun you plan to carry is recommended so you qualify with equipment you know well.

Do I need prior pistol experience?+

No, but some prior experience is strongly recommended because the qualification must be completed without coaching on the firing line.

What should I bring to class?+

Bring your handgun, ammunition, state-issued ID, and any eye or ear protection you prefer to use.

How much ammunition should I bring?+

Plan on bringing around 100 rounds so you have enough for the qualification and any retest or malfunction needs.

How long do I have to apply after I take the course?+

The qualification paperwork has historically been valid for two years, but confirm state filing requirements before you apply.
