Course FAQs

What should I bring for the class?+

Bring your handgun, ammunition, and any eye or ear protection you want to use. Rental handguns may be available if arranged ahead of time.

How much ammunition should I bring?+

About 150 rounds is a good planning number so you have enough for qualification work and any additional repetitions.

How long is the class?+

The full course has historically run about nine hours including classroom work and range time.

Do I need to own a handgun to take it?+

No. Owning one helps because you can learn on the pistol you actually use, but it is not required.

Can younger students attend?+

Yes. Students 13 and older can attend, and a youth-focused version has also been offered.
